Candidates for Invisalign
Invisalign is flexible to an array of orthodontic needs, meaning most patients are candidates for this treatment. However, candidacy details are still worth reviewing beforehand. Here is a look at who can receive Invisalign.
Patients With Most Common Bite Issues
The majority of bite irregularities fall within the correcting capabilities of Invisalign. These irregularities include overbite, underbite, crossbite, overcrowding, and incorrectly rotated teeth. One thing that Invisalign cannot do is move teeth vertically. Like other orthodontics, Invisalign is unable to move the jaws or widen the palate. This means that patients with those issues may require a different appliance.
Patients in Certain Age Ranges
Invisalign Full works for patients whose jaws and teeth are done or mostly done developing. The same is true for Invisalign Express, which is designed for patients whose bite irregularities are very minor. As its name suggests, Invisalign Teen is designed for teenagers, whose teeth and jaws are still growing.
Patients Prepared to Take Responsibility
While aligners and treatment plans are designed and administered by our Invisalign dentist, patients do share more responsibility with Invisalign compared to other orthodontics. Patients should be dedicated to wearing their aligners for at least twenty hours every day, and must avoid drinking or eating anything other than water while wearing them.
Bite correction can occur faster, more discreetly, and more comfortably for patients who choose Invisalign instead of conventional braces. Confirming eligibility only requires an assessment by our dentist. At a consultation, patients can learn more about this treatment and its candidacy requirements.
